Choose a PNG, JPG, or WebP to make a circular crop image. Position and size the circle, preview the result, then download a PNG with transparent corners. Your image stays in this browser; no login is needed.
How to make a circular crop
Choose an image, position the circle with the controls above, and leave PNG and Transparent selected to keep the area outside the circle transparent. The largest circle that fits has a radius equal to half the image’s shorter side. This tool crops the output canvas to the selected square around the circle.
The checkerboard in the preview reveals transparent pixels; it is not included in the downloaded file. Whether extra transparent edges remain in a circular crop depends on the output canvas and whether it is cropped afterward.
Why use PNG for a circle crop?
PNG supports transparency, allowing a page background to show through the area outside the circle. JPEG does not support transparency. If you export to JPG here, this tool fills the area outside the circle with your selected solid color. Other tools or export settings may use a different opaque color.
An alpha channel represents transparency. When clearing the area outside a circle in an image editor, a background layer may need an alpha channel added first. For a rectangular crop, use the general image crop tool.
Use the circular PNG as a source for a website favicon; the generator can preserve transparent pixels or center-crop to a square.
Circle crop questions
How do I save a circle crop with a transparent background?
Choose an image, leave Output format on PNG and Outside the circle on Transparent, check the preview, then download.
Why is PNG recommended?
PNG supports transparent pixels outside the circle, so the background behind the image can show through.
Can JPG keep the area outside the circle transparent?
No. JPEG does not support transparency. This tool fills the area outside the circle with the solid color you select for JPG output.
What is an alpha channel?
An alpha channel represents pixel transparency. A background layer in an editor may need one added before you can clear the area outside a circle to transparency.
Why do some circular crops have transparent corners?
A circle can sit on a square canvas with transparent pixels outside it. Whether additional transparent edges remain depends on the output canvas and any later crop. This tool trims the output to the selected square.
How large can the circle be?
Its maximum diameter is the shorter side of the source image. You can choose a smaller circle and position it within the image.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. This tool reads, previews, and exports the selected image in your browser, with no account required.
