GIF frames in playback order
How to extract frames from a GIF
- Choose one animated
.giffile from your device. - Wait for the tool to decode the animation and show its displayed frames in order.
- Check the frame count and pixel dimensions shown above each preview.
- Use Download PNG for one frame, or Download all as ZIP for the numbered set.
Frame order, filenames, and transparency
Frames are listed in playback order, starting with frame-0001.png. Each preview uses the GIF's logical-screen width and height. The ZIP uses the source filename and zero-padded frame numbers so the images sort in the same order. PNG supports transparent pixels; the extracted files preserve the decoded frame transparency.
Some GIFs store only changed rectangles for later frames. This tool composites those updates onto the logical screen and applies the GIF disposal instructions before exporting each complete displayed frame. It does not export raw partial patches or change the animation timing.
Choose the output you need
Need separate PNG files for editing or another tool? Use this page. If you want one image containing all the animation frames, use the GIF to sprite sheet converter instead. It arranges the frames into a single PNG sheet.
Limits and privacy
This version accepts GIF files only. Files over 20 MB, animations over 100 frames, a logical-screen side over 4,096 pixels, or more than 60 million total frame pixels are not processed. Large animations use browser memory, so close other heavy tabs if your device is low on memory. Your GIF is read and processed locally in the browser; it is not uploaded to our server.
